Fully God? Fully Man?

I’m currently about halfway thru a class on Church History and It has been really interesting to see how much emphasis has been placed on the person and work of Jesus Christ throughout the history of the church. It seems like there have always been heresies circulating within the church, trying to diminish either the deity or the humanity of Jesus.
Colossians 2:9 gives us a well rounded and simple picture of the truth. “For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily”.
John 1:14 shows us a picture of the humanity of Jesus along with his relationship to God the Father. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
These tensions are good to grapple with because as A W Tozer said, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us”. Jesus Christ must always remain the undisputed head of the Church. He is and always was fully God. He chose to humble himself and become a man for a time so that we could have relationship with God today, and live with him for all of eternity. Let’s never forget what an amazing gift that was.
Blessings,
